Positive Assistance Fund [PAF]
The Eureka Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's "Positive Assistance Fund" exists to provide micro-grants to help meet the needs of individuals with HIV or AIDS in what is currently known as "Humboldt County". The AIDS Emergency Fund was given to the trust of the Eureka Sisters by the former Humboldt County AIDS Task Force in 2014, and bolstered by funds contributed when the Redwood AIDS Information Network & Services (RAINS) of southern Humboldt dissolved in 2022. Combining the two pots of money, we created the Positive Assistance Fund [PAF]. (Make a tax-deductible donation to the PAF here .)
These funds are available to people living in our community who are positive for HIV and are in need of financial support. They are meant to assist with expenses that impact someone's basic needs from being met, whether that is accessing medical care, transportation, professional clothing, basic household items, legal documents, moving expenses, educational costs, etc.
To ensure that the fund lasts into the future, we only release a limited amount of money per year for use. That total, across all grants made, is currently $2000.00.
PAF requests are reviewed monthly by the executive members of the Eureka Sisters, Inc. Board of Directors during a private voting session the 1st Saturday of each month. All information submitted is kept confidential in accordance with HIPAA standards, and is only reviewed by the executives of the board.
